Next week is Tet, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year. That means next week will be jam packed with events and celebrations. Floating Flower Market of Ben Binh

In District 8 by the Ben Binh Wharf you’ll find hundreds of boats lined up selling flowers, kumquat and apricot trees. In the days leading up to Tet, Vietnamese come here to buy their decorations for the new year. Kumquat trees and their bountiful fruits in particular are considered lucky. The colorful displays on the boats are a sight to behold and a great place to photograph. Nguyen Hue Flower Street

The main boulevard in District 1 will be closed to traffic and flower displays will line the road leading up Ho Chi Minh City Hall. If you’re in Saigon during this time it will be hard to miss. This will be the 16th year of the flower street and is set to run from February 2nd through to the 8th. Opening night is slated to be a busy and vibrant occasion.

Tet’s Eve Celebration

Down south in District 7, Crescent Mall has their annual Tet Fair. For a family friendly and local flair then this is a great place to attend. Here you will find many local families enjoying some of the festivities and a great way to see a slice of holiday life in the southern capital.
