We will drive through the chaotic traffic of Ho Chi Minh to our first stop at a local Saigonese eatery. Here we will sample "Bun Thit Nuong" which is one of Vietnams favorite noodle dishes. Bun Thit Nuong is a cold rice-vermicelli noodle dish topped with grilled pork, fresh herbs like basil and mint, fresh salad, Giá, and chả giò. After that we will hop back on the motorbike and drive to district 3 in a hidden eatery to sample the savory and crispy Vietnamese pancake "Banh Xeo". The pancake they serve here is a unique mixture of taste from the Mekong Delta region and Saigon.
Next we will head to the oldest apartment complex in Saigon, Nguyen Thiet Thuat. This is an oasis of old Saigon in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. Living conditions here can be rough and buildings here have worn down throughout the years but the life around this area is vibrant and full of action. There is a rich variety of street food here to try, because the housing is so distinctive it almost feels like a secret city within a city. Afterwards you will head to the biggest flower market in Saigon. Open 24/7 the flowers here are transferred from Vietnams flower capital Dalat every morning.
After having other people cook for you all night we will finally give you a chance to test your talents in the kitchen. We will go to district 7 which is the place to go to sample food from Vietnams ethnic minioritie tribes. You will get to cook and eat two dishes under the instruction of an experienced Saigon food stall cook. The next stop is a visit to Ho Chi Minhs floating market where we will take a small break from all the eating and take in the local life here and perhaps drink a refreshing ice cold coconut.
The tour will end with Saigon's favorite desert, coconut ice cream. The shop that specializes in this unique treat has been in operation for over 43 years so we will surely be getting the good stuff. Topped with sticky rice, corn, and coconut flake this combination of flavors may seem bizarre at first but we guarantee you will come back for more. After our evening of flavor and fun we will safely drop you off to your hotel.
