Your English speaking guide will pick you up from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) at 8 AM. On the back of a scooter, you will whiz through the city, and its rice field dotted countryside towards the Cu Chi Tunnels.
Before you reach your destination, you will make a short stop at a small village where a local master will show you the millennia-old art of making rice paper from scratch.
When you arrive at the Cu Chi Tunnels, your guide will walk you through a stunning open-air museum dedicated to the American-Vietnam War.
You will gain extensive first-hand insight into the history of the war in general and the Viet Cong in particular.
You will learn how they constructed these tunnels and how they managed to survive inside them for so many years, and see remnants from the war, such as booby traps, napalm bombs, and tanks.
Most importantly, you get to crawl into the actual tunnel system and visit the underground living rooms, kitchens, hospitals, and sleeping quarters that housed the Viet Cong during the war.
After you have explored the tunnels, you will visit a firing range where you can shoot from an AK-47 if you so desire.
Before returning to your hotel, you will stop at a local restaurant in a nearby village and sample some of the very best village specialties.
