Day 1: Saigon - Cu Chi Tunnels - Mekong Delta - Bang Lang Stork Sanctuary - Can Tho
The tour starts with a pick up at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City at 7:30 AM.
You'll then make a 1.5-hour drive to the Cu Chi Tunnels, an immense network of shafts and burrows constructed by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam American War.
There, your English-speaking guide will take you through the jungle, and educate you on life in the tunnels, their history, and architecture. He'll show you the dangerous booby traps used during the war and point out hidden tunnel openings and vents.
Most consider the highlight of the Cu Chi Tunnels experience to be entering the tubes themselves and crawling through them on all fours. They are small and tight even though they've been enlarged to accommodate foreign travelers.
From the Cu Chi Tunnels, you'll head to Can Tho. This region in the Mekong Delta is famous for its endless green rice fields and abundant orchards.
You'll enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant before heading to the magnificent Bang Lang Stork Sanctuary. There, you get to observe one of Vietnam's largest congregations of storks.
After the Stork Sanctuary visit, you'll head to a local homestay where you'll check in before having dinner with the locals. After dinner, you'll be free to explore Mekong Delta's largest city, Can Tho.
Day 2: Can Tho - Cai Rang floating market - Saigon
After enjoying a 6 AM breakfast at the homestay, you'll embark on a tour to Cai Rang, one of Vietnam's busiest floating markets.
There, you'll observe the locals bargain for goods while you relax on your boat and enjoy your morning coffee.
Next, you'll head to a local factory where you'll learn the way to make noodles and rice paper.
A short, 10-minute boat ride will then take you to exotic fruit orchards, where you'll cycle around and explore the Mekong Delta countryside.
You will venture off the beaten path to discover the local river life, handpick fruits from the trees and see the fishermen score the catch of the day.
At 11 AM, you will head back towards Ho Chi Minh City, making a stop at a restaurant to enjoy traditional Vietnamese lunch and at Kimmy Chocolate, Mekong Delta's largest chocolate factory.
You will arrive back in Ho Chi Minh City in the late afternoon, where you'll be dropped off at your hotel.
