Arriving in Ba Be National park, you will board a boat and begin sailing along the Nang River drifting along stunning limestone peaks. The journey will take you to the mouth of Puong Cave. Walk inside and marvel at the stunning limestone formations inside. Continue hiking for 7 km through the lush tropical jungle. Finally, you will arrive at your home stay for the evening, run by a Dzao ethnic minority family.
Get up early to enjoy your breakfast as you watch the sunrise over the mythical Ba Be National park. Today you will trek further into the mountains along winding rivers and through more mystical caves. Arriving in the Khay Qua and Nam Dai villages, you will be shown inside the crafted wooden houses by a Dzao villager.
Continue your trek through the national park until you arrive in Coc Toc, where the Tay ethnic minority resides. Here you will spend the evening in their traditional wooden stilted houses.
You will begin this day by venturing into the recently discovered Hua Ma Cave. The 700 meters long and 50-meter high cave has thousands of stalagmites and stalactites of different shapes, some resembling towers and others statuesque.
You will continue your trek until you arrive at the mouth of the Lo Mo Cave. This cave is only accessible via a small opening that can be tricky to find. Crawl down into this enigmatic cave and let your eyes feast on the light and rock formation visual spectacle.
After a day of cave exploring, you will return to the homestay from the previous evening and spend one last evening in the heart of the jungle.
On your last day, you will take to the water once again. Set sail on Lake Ba Be and watch the local people at work on their wooden boats and observe the varied flora and fauna inhabiting this unique environment. Ba Be is home to over 500 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians, so keep an eye out if you see something that moves.
Following your boat expedition, you will be treated to a locally prepared lunch to refuel your energy tank for the ride back to Hanoi. Expect to arrive in the early evening in Hanoi.
